Last week, the following announcement appeared on TelosHub.
The announcement asked which of the Telos partners is our favourite. That’s a tough question. Telos has more than 100 partners, and it took time to pick a favourite. But the one that left the most impression on me was Layer Zero.

Another reason why I chose Layer Zero was because a few of my friends asked me, “What kind of connection or difference is there between Layer Zero and Telos Zero?”.

This article has been written to understand the collaboration between the Layer Zero project and the idea of becoming a Layer Zero, which is a vital part of the future vision of the project, which has one of the hardest working teams in the field and arguably the most loyal community. As you will read in detail in the article, Layer Zero has been integrated into the Telos Network and has played an important role in the Telos main chain’s goal of leading the future of web3. Today, LayerZero technology enables the seamless and secure transfer of $TLOS between many different blockchains, both on the Layer Zero bridge and on the Telos bridge.

Blockchain technology was created to build an open and fair digital economy for all people. As an industry, crypto needs to work together to realize this vision. This is where Layer Zero comes in — maximising interoperability without compromising the nature or architecture of blockchains themselves. Layer Zero is a protocol designed to ensure seamless interoperability between any blockchain as long as endpoint connections are distributed. This is in line with TelosZero’s vision of interoperability.

Let’s go deep into Layer Zero.

In the bustling realm of crypto, where innovation is the heartbeat, Layer Zero emerges as a trailblazer, grounded in principles that echo the essence of a decentralised future.

Let’s delve into the bedrock principles and the groundbreaking Layer Zero V2 architecture that embodies them.

In the vast expanse of crypto, Layer Zero stands tall on three pillars — immutability, censorship resistance, and permissionlessness. These principles are not mere aspirations but the very fabric woven into Layer Zero’s design.

Immutable: The interface for Layer Zero, known as Endpoints, is not just smart contracts; they are immutable, forever etched on each supported chain.

Censorship-Resistant: At Layer Zero, each message undergoes meticulous verification, and once submitted to the source chain, its journey to the destination chain is guaranteed. The protocol leaves no room for censorship, embodying the spirit of true decentralisation.

Permissionless: Layer Zero is more than a protocol; it’s a pure embodiment of permissionless ness. Anyone can partake in the verification infrastructure, keeping the system resilient. Anyone can build on LayerZero, fostering a vibrant ecosystem.

How LayerZero Works: V2 Architecture Unveiled

LayerZero Tx Lifecycle

Layer Zero’s V2 architecture unfolds across three vital layers: Protocol, Standards, and Infrastructure.

Protocol: The intrinsic layer of Layer Zero, the protocol, encapsulates the enduring contracts — Endpoints and MessageLibs. Endpoints, immutable on each supported chain, provide a standardised interface. MessageLibs, append-only additions to Endpoints, facilitate the verification and communication of messages. This modularity ensures that developers aren’t coerced into adopting new MessageLibs, akin to the flexibility seen in smart contracts on various blockchain iterations.

Standards: Unified semantics reign supreme in LayerZero, enabling applications to function uniformly across supported blockchains. The standards cover omnichain smart contracts, message packets, and design patterns. These standards are audited, reusable, and battle-tested, easing the development process and fostering interoperability.

Infrastructure: Permissionlessness governs the infrastructure layer. Decentralised Verifier Networks (DVNs) verify cross-chain messages, offering a diverse and resilient verification landscape. Executors, ensuring smooth execution on the destination chain, operate as a permissionless role. The Security Stack, a unique configuration of DVNs, Executors, and security preferences, empowers developers with application-owned security.

V2 vs V1: Evolution with a Purpose

The transition from V1 to V2 is not a radical upheaval but a strategic refinement. V2 enhances the developer experience and fortifies LayerZero’s core tenets — permissionlessness, censorship resistance, and immutability.

In a dynamic crypto landscape, Layer Zero stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of decentralisation. Its principles, woven into the very fabric of its architecture, beckon developers and enthusiasts alike to embrace a future where crypto isn’t just a parallel system but a force that reshapes the legacy.

One of the most favourable features of Layer Zero is its compatibility with the network it is integrated into.

In this way, it has been seamlessly integrated into Telos’ fast, secure and inexpensive main network, which has been running perfectly uninterrupted for 5 years, thanks to endpoints.

We see the same compatibility in its scaling. Layerzero has the ability to scale at the speed of the chain it is deployed in.

Secure, fast and cheap inter-chain bridge building, which is vital for DeFi, has made Layer Zero one of the stars of the Telos Ecosystem.

If we look at Layer Zero’s ecosystem, there is no doubt that its protocol developed on interoperability has attracted the attention of other blockchain projects in the field.

Layer Zero and TelosZero give everyone the gift of seamless interoperability that paves the way for a truly open and fair digital economy.
